Imagine the scenario. You want to launch a new product, run a once-only online promotion, or create editorial for a special purpose. Microsites (also known as minisites) are small websites you can use to do the job.
Microsites may complement your main website or be hosted independently. They come into their own when you want to create a site with a very different visual feel or tone of voice. Or a site designed to carry highly-specific contextual advertising – perhaps in conjunction with your Google Adwords pay-per-click (PPC) campaign…
Just as a skilled web copywriter adds value to your main website, the same applies to your microsite. Maxi, mini or micro, web copywriting draws on the same special skills and techniques. Especially when you must combine engaging copy for humans with search engine appeal for SEO.
This type of copywriting isn’t every copywriter’s thing. For a start, it’s time-consuming – especially if you don’t do it regularly. What’s more, there’s a knack to combining your chosen brand language, feature-benefit package, and researched page-keyword sets in a microsite. Some people have it and some don't – I'm told that I do.
Since going freelance in 2006, SEO copywriting has been one of my specialisms. Not clumsy, keyword-stuffed waffle, but human-centric content that’s relevant, meaningful, persuasive and informative. Whether for a 70-page main site or a three-page product microsite, everything I write is unique, properly researched and lovingly crafted. Just as Google and your human site visitors want.
You might ask why you can’t do your own microsite copywriting. Perhaps you could, but too often I see sites waiting to go live while content remains just another good intention on someone’s to-do list... Then I get involved, and within days the site is populated with engaging copy – and going live to earn its keep on the Internet. Oh yes! Along with your minisite graphics, copywriting is undoubtedly a key part of excellent microsite design. Even more so with the ongoing Google algorithm updates that reward well-written, relevant content.
Will you leave your copy unwritten, or hire a professional to help you? If you don’t have time, specialist SEO copywriting skills, or the inclination to write your minisite copy, I can help. While you get on with what you do best for your business, I’ll take your brief and turn it into powerful copy.
