It was a joy to work with the AUDI VW Specialist Centre in North West London as their automotive writer – even though, what I did for them was more about high-quality automotive copywriting than merely 'automotive content'.
AVSC is an amazing resource for anyone with a Volkswagen Group car or light commercial vehicle. Under Chris Majewski's experienced leadership, they've built a solid reputation for integrity, accurate fault-finding where others have failed (often expensively), integrity and value. Their customers come from across Greater London, the Home Counties and even further afield. From VW Polos to AUDI R8 and RS Series vehicles, there's no-one quite like them. But by their own admission, copywriting isn't their greatest strength (or best use of their time when they could be fixing cars). That's where I came in...
When planning their new website, AVSC knew that they needed to improve the copywriting on the site to properly tell their impressive story. So they searched for a suitably experienced freelance automotive writer and found my automotive copywriting page which references work I've done for brands such as Toyota GB and TRW. (Phew! My automotive SEO works!)
At the same time, they wanted to upgrade their search engine optimisation and ability to feature prominently in the Google search engine results pages (SERPS). When we talked about Chris's requirements it quickly became apparent that before commissioning me for their automotive content writing, AVSC needed high-quality research into their search environment and the keywords/phrases that customers use to find them.
I recommended that they contact Graham Baylis at Serendipity Online Marketing near Hereford. I've collaborated with Graham on numerous projects and knew he would cost-effectively research and prioritise page keyword sets for maximum effectiveness. (Side note, if you need a reliable, no-BS, independent SEO and online marketing expert who won't break the bank, you really should contact Graham – by the way, I don't ask, or receive, any kind of introduction fee or commission.)
Only when Graham had done this, did I undertake thorough telephone research on the page topics to identify the things that make AVSC different – and elicit glowing reviews from delighted customers. Then I set to work crafting the required pages for the new site. It was fun, and for an automotive enthusiast like me, very interesting to write about automotive exotica such as AUDI R8 V10 Coupés and Spyders as I tackled everything from prestige vehicle servicing to advanced fault diagnosis.
Working to the AUDI VW Specialist Centre's deadlines, Graham and I soon had their new automotive SEO copywriting planned and finished, ready for incorporation into the new website. Though I feel obliged to use the term, I don't like the term 'content', which I feel commoditises and devalues my work as an automotive writer. The writing I did for Chris and his team demanded much more than just an 'automotive content writer'.
